Andrea Meza from Mexico has crowned the 69th Miss universe pageant. The model Mexico Andrea Meza is also a software engineer, She becomes the third Mexican woman to be crowned as the Miss Universe

Andrea Meza was preceded by Miss Universe Zozobini Tunzi of South Africa.

2. SWAMIH FUND TO BENEFIT 1.16 LAKH HOME BUYERS:

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has handed over possession to 640 homebuyers (SWAMIH) completes its first residential project. Special Window for Affordable and Mid-Income Housing Fund will benefit 16 lakh home loan borrowers whose housing projects.

Rivali Park Wintergreens is the first investment by the (SWAMIH) Fund.

 K P SHARMA OLI RE-APPOINTED AS PRIME MINISTER OF NEPAL

 

KP Sharma Oli Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal was re-appointed as the Prime Minister of the country by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari in Nepal 2021.

The decision to re-appoint Oli was taken after none of the opposition party could secure majority seats in Parliament house to form a new government on 13 May 2021.

At present, he needs 136 votes to form a majority seat to form a new government.

4. FIRST PRIVATE ASTRONAUT MISSION TO ISS:

NASA and Axiom Space have signed an order deal for the first private astronaut mission to the International Space Station the spaceflight, designated as Axiom Mission 1 (Ax-1), will launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida and travel to the International Space Station no earlier than January 2022

The mission with a crew of 4 astronauts, will be launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida, US.

Capsule SpaceX’s Crew Dragon will carry the crew to the ISS.

International Day of Families is annually observed by the United Nations across the world on 15 May 2021. The United Nation focuses on some important issues like health, education, children’s rights, gender equality, work-family balance, and social inclusion and to family issues related to educate the social, economic and demographic processes affecting families.

The message of International Day of Families 2021 is “Families and New Technologies”.

 

6. MOA & FW PROVIDED FUND ALLOCATES RS. 2250 CRORE FOR HORTICULTURE PRODUCTION:

The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA & FW) had provided to fund allocates of 2250 Crore for ‘Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), a centrally sponsored scheme for the year 2021-22.

India recorded the highest horticulture production of 77 million tonnes from an area of 25.66 million hectares in the year 2019-2020. In the country, the total horticulture production is 326.58 lakh million tonnes from an area of 27.17 lakh hectares as per the Advance Estimates for the FY 2020-21.

The India present first BRICS Employment Working Group (EWG) Meeting held on 11 May to 12 May 2021 in Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi.

This meeting for discussions was Promoting Social Security Agreements (SSA) amongst BRICS Nations i.e. Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, the representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and International Social Security Agency (ISSA) participated in the meeting.

 

8. FUND RELEASED UNDER PM-KISAN SCHEME:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the eighth installment of the financial gain under the “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi” (PM-KISAN) scheme on 14 May 2021.

PM Modi released fund Rs 20,000 crore to more than 9.5 crore farmer-beneficiaries in the 8 installments.

West Bengal joined the PM-KISAN Scheme, with more than 7 lakh Bengal farmers received their 1st installment.

9. VERISK MAPLECROFT GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTALLY RISKIEST CITIES, JAKARTA TOPPED:

India has 43 of the World’s 100 most environmentally riskiest cities.

Amongst the 100 most vulnerable cities, 99 are in Asia. Globally, 414 cities (37 are in China and 43 are in India) are at high risk from pollution, extreme heat, natural hazards, water shortages, and the vulnerable impacts of climate change. According to a report by research firm Verisk Maplecroft, Asian cities face the greatest risk from environmental issues including air pollution and natural disasters.

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia topped the list of combined risk based on all nine factors analyzed by Verisk Maplecroft.

Lima, Peru is the only non-Asian city to be listed in the World’s 100 Riskiest cities.

11. GOOGLE CLOUD AND ELON MUSK’S SPACEX JOINED A PARTNERSHIP: STARLINK INTERNET SERVICE:

Google Cloud and SpaceX’s Starlink both entered a partnership to offer high-speed satellite internet to customers worldwide. SpaceX will set up Starlink ground stations within Google’s data centres to provide Google cloud and Starlink satellite internet service.

Google Cloud’s high-speed satellite internet capacity private network would support the delivery of Starlink’s global satellite internet service.

SpaceX has launched close to one thousand six hundred (1,600) Starlink satellites.

12. CHINA LAUNCHES YAOGAN – REMOTE SENSING SATELLITES INTO ORBIT:

China launched the eighth group of three Yaogan-30 satellites into orbit on a Long March 2C rocket on May 7, 2021, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Southwest China.

It was China’s launched 369th mission of the Long March rocket series in 2021.

13. MALERKOTLA NEW DISTRICT OF PUNJAB 2021- AMARINDER SINGH:

Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh declared “Malerkotla” as the 23rd district of Punjab. It was a long pending demand of the Muslim majority town from Sangrur. 

The Chief Minister of Punjab made these announcements during the State-level celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr in 2021.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh included sub-divisions of Malerkotla and Ahmedgarh, and the sub-tehsil of Amargarh into the new district.

14. MCCIA & NABARD LAUNCH INDIA’S 1ST AGRO-EXPORT FACILITATION CENTRE (AEFC) IN PUNE:

The Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (MCCIA), in association with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), has launched India’s 1st Agriculture Export Facilitation Center (AEFC) in Pune, Maharashtra.

The new agro-export Facilitation Centre will work as a one-stop-center for the agricultural exports. India’s export of agriculture is targeted at USD 60 Billion by 2022.

16. SIX MORE SITES ADDED TO INDIA’S UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES:

The six proposals were included in the list on April 13, taking the total number of proposals from India to 48, according to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.

  2. The Hire Bengal megalithic site in Karnataka
  3. Bhedaghat-Lametaghat of Narmada Valley in Madhya Pradesh
  4. The Ganga ghats in Varanasi
  5. Temples of Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu and
  6. The Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, have been added to India’s tentative list of UNESCO world heritage sites,

Recently:

UNESCO has inscribed the fort cities of Gwalior and Orchha in Madhya Pradesh (MP) as its world heritage cities under urban landscape city programme in the year 2020.
